The Role of Community Health Workers in Primary Care
As a GP in Brazil my clinical practice was improved immeasurably by the use of community health and well-being workers. I think there's important conversations to have now at national level as to how we can establish a co-commissioning solution for a role like this. This isn't a role that is easily identified as being primary care exclusively or public health exclusively or community services or social care but it actually benefits all of those areas immensely. GPs don't have the time to go out into the community and find out how people are living, what's wrong with their living environment and what's going on in their households.
