I'm Afraid of the Red Stick Books I've Been Reading Since I Was a Kid
I grew up in Qatar and had very limited access to books specially fiction right. I still have my copy of Nirvana's Never Mind with the baby blacked out on my cover you know that sort of thing um. My father used to sneak into the cafes in Egypt in the old alleyways where he would hold court and they would talk shop. There were certain books that I was reading when I was writing American war that I didn't think would be a huge influence but ended up being chief among them is a book called let us now praise famous men by AG. The last book I finished was mary beards upcoming biography of earnest Hemingway it's 700 pages it's very sorry
