Japinara: I never thought of joining politics. I left the IAS to build a moment. So politics came more than 10 years later. After a very agonizing period for partisan politics, my work is about consensus building rather than how to differentiate and make everything black and white. As it turned out in urban India, particularly big cities, that's what compelled us to join a political party. In rural India, I think it's beyond a couple of percentage points. And therefore that hard edge that pretends to making everything black andwhite over it is that compelling us to joinpolitics.
