The Evolution of Emotions in CFT

A number of studies now are showing that when you take people through compassionate mind training and compassion and focus therapy it's not just that distress reduces, shame, self-criticism, mental health symptoms but you also get a significant increase in things like wellbeing and positive emotions too. So CFT is also focused on the flourishing aspect. Now one thing that we hold in CFT because it's an evolutionary psychology shaped approach rather than clustering emotions in different ways that have gone before it, CFT clusters emotions based upon what we think they evolved to do.
