Is There a Desire for the Belly?
There's this contrast again between basic nourishment and treating things as if they have a significance above and beyond what they can do for us in a practical sense. I associate that with the eye, right? Or with the concept of idealization we were talking about earlier in relationship to stoicism,. You can look at things and covet them in a way. And that covetousness imbues the coveted object with a specialness. So sight is really special in that sense.
