Is There a Rabbit Hole in the Personalization Algorithm?
There's actually other studies, I think, which should light on this a bit better than mine. A new university study that they had real real users with their own history login and just follow recommendations using a pattern. And they didn't find a rabbit hole when they did that. There was another study in 2021 which had access to web panel data. They also didn't find any pathway to radicalization with that real data. So I think that's more definitive than mine. My latest studies mainly looking at kind of the mechanics of the personalization algorithm. But I think together they all paint a picture that's mostly debunking the idea that that's what YouTube's doing.
