I worry about online is that there are very few places now that seem to me to permit soft voices. And so as you say, there is a selection effect where all of these different platforms are dominated by the loudest voices. It selects for personality type that is on some level unfiltered on another level, just loves conflict and aggression and spectacle. There's something to being outrageous. Donald Trump was famous before Twitter. He was famous in part for being outrageous and flamboyant and so on. But as we've moved into this, like predator prey dynamic that you describe, I don't know if it's possible to compete in it or not.
