I grew up in a small cold town in the Appalachian Mountains on the side of one of the mountains that borders the valley of the town. Above our house was a ridge that ran along the border of the state park but all the trails in the public areas were far in the valley below separated by a thick forest and plenty of no trespassing signs. We had coyote, the occasional bear, mountain lions that the DEP refused to acknowledge bobcats and a veritable fuck ton of deer.
