Lisa Kogan: Our fascination with zombies may be an expression of grappling with existential issues and the fear of meaninglessness. She says there's a mythological correlate in the ancient Greek depiction of Hades or Tartarus, where people shuffle around down there. In effect, like zombies, they're shades, so they are images of their former selves, but without much consciousness, she said.
