Mindfulness Practice and the Awareness of Anata or No Self

The alternative, which arises naturally out of the awareness of anata or no self is self compassion. Instead of trying to regain our competitive position after a fall, or a failure, we acknowledge the painful feeling of disappointment and offer ourselves loving, understanding, and loving kindness. We become less concerned with egoistic aims and feel more connected with others. It's said in Buddhist traditions that with enough practice, we can observe mind moments. These are the briefest experiences of which a person can be conscious.
