The Importance of Fear and Trembling
Kierkegaard's Phoein Trembling appealed particularly to existentialist thinkers, notably Jean-Paul Sartre. One message that can be taken from the book is that the truth of human existence can't be adequately grasped or expressed in terms of rational thought. If the reader is a Christian, then they'll probably find some kind of inspiration from reading the book. But for those who are more interested in philosophy, it will also challenge their own faith.
