The Discipline of Reading Standards for Middle Schoolers
Most states now recognize that and have what are called disciplinary reading standards, disciplinary literacy standards. What it means to make sense of science is very different than what it means to made sense of text in a history class or literature class. More than forty states now require that kids be taught those more specialized kinds of reading that you need to know.
