The Importance of Historical Amnesia in Ukraine

I think some people understand historical amnesia simply to mean an ignorance of history, not understanding what happened in the past. That tends to be the cut-off point for how we think about history. It has a genuine impact on our capacity to understand how the world works and how things change. And I think that one of the things that has occurred is that when you have this presentist political outlook, you adopt what's often called short-termist politics.
