The Death of a Death Row Prisoner

Yoshikuni Noguchi was posted to the Tokyo Detention House, one of seven prisons in Japan that carries out the death penalty. His duties included supervising the prisoners and patrolling the dormitories. After several months, he was assigned to suicide watch for a death row prisoner in his forties. Back then, prisoners on death row were given twenty four hours notice before their execution,. allowing them to say a final farewell to their loved ones.
