The Failure of Chris Lick at CNN

Chris Lick was a theoretically great TV producer, he didn't really get to do it on the CNN linear because he was mostly just rearranging different people and stuff. But if given a platform where he could have actually created shows from scratch, well, that's the platform. And maybe he could have stuck around if he could have given his employee base this message of saying, give me some time. We're going to build a subscription product that is so robust over time that it can compete with the New York Times. He never got control of the narrative. It was a failure from the get go.
