In his inaugural address, Abraham lincoln said he was committed to keeping slavery in the states where it already exists. The southern states thought he was going to get rid of slavery in the existing southern states so they seceded. And then we went through the civil war, which many people thought was going to end in month or two. It took four years. Roughly about six million people died during that war. We've been dealing with some of that debt ever since. If you were to stack trillion one dollar bills between here and the moon, that would take about a trillion dollars,. That's how big it is.
