The Future of Nuclear Weapons

I think it's highly unlikely that nations are going to voluntarily give up nuclear weapons. But how about a more limited ambition? We know from the Cold War that even at times of tension, the world has been able to scale back the overall nuclear arsenal. Admittedly, this is an uncomfortable policy because even a reduced stock of weapons would visit destruction of a kind never before experienced by our species. Future generations would thank us for taking action now while we still can. I'm Anita Arnand, and for my new podcast on BBC Radio 4, I'll be exploring the complicated idea of the princess.
