The Evolution of Rogue Waves
In December of 2000, the European Union determined to see if they could locate rogue waves via satellite in a project with the sick codename Max Wave. In just three weeks, the European Space Agency's ERS-1 and ERS-2 satellites located more than ten rogue waves in a relatively small portion of ocean. Temporary estimates suggest that at this moment, right now, when you're listening to me say this, there are roughly a dozen rogue waves rumbling around. Not less than one every thousand years, more than ten every minute.
