A few weeks ago we interviewed Phil Diane about storage rent and there I know that the question about state and history came up a lot about pruning. So in this discussion there's two useful things to think about: It's theBlockchain history and it's the blockchain state. And so like we said, the chain history is immutable. We can't really change anything without destroying the chain. There's things we could do there as well like snapshotting and recomputing things, whatever. But the state database is something that we can do quite a lot with because it's kind of outside of the ledger.
In this introductory episode, we discuss what makes up blocks and block headers. We also cover a bit about state vs history, what exactly makes up a transaction and do a quick intro to a Merkle Tree.
