The bulk of plug in code is written in Python, but all file system access and dependency tracking is implemented in Rust. We do support implementing what we call intrinsic rules in Rust. But we don't want that to be necessary for a plugin to be developed. So it's a challenge to sort of find the next large portion of the code base that we can rewrite in Rust.
