Is There a Need for Agents?

In the beginning in Hollywood did below the line have agents or was it just talent that had agents? It was really mostly on screen talent. You know again a director making a deal with their cinematographer adds an extra level of actual not artistry but of stress of fight, looking at budgets and dealing of this head to headness. I think as the film business became even more sophisticated the studio has really started to hire more freelancers what became the conversation was how can we as artists have people to really watch out for us?"
