Parenting in Judaism - The Talmudic Parent
The Talmud suggests two different models for parenting. One is the model between the father's son and the second is themodel between the father daughter. In the first case, you can force your child to say in our terms, be a doctor or marry a Jewish person when they grow up. You can hold them to that system in model one. The father daughter relationship doesn't have as much control over their future behavior.
