The Death of Winthrop Bell
Woodrow Wilson comes in as a real kind of a liberal warrior in the early part of 1919. By April 1919 he's being pushed around by the French who are looking for a punishing peace. Winthrop Bell manages to convince David Lloyd George just at the moment Wilson is lost. He only has one vote, but he has a powerful veto which he says that if the other powers refused to go along with this, he will refuse to let British troops invade Germany.
