Is There a Difference Between Iraq and the US Invasion?

In 2006, three years after the US led invasion, sectarian violence erupted between some of Iraq's ethnic and religious communities. To try and mitigate the violence, the Iraqi government set up military checkpoints, barricades and security walls across the city. Sana began researching this in 2016 but it wasn't until a few years ago when she wrote an article about how Iraqis had operated around these blast walls. There is no reference that looks at this that is written by an Iraqi that is engaging with this incredible spatial practice so I decided to write the book.
