You want to do your own thinking first. And then for certain decisions, like important work decisions, or if you were thinking of moving divisions in organizations or something, it makes a lot of sense to talk to some of your colleagues there about what they think might be important to you. Each of those comments kind of stimulates them to think a little differently. Anything they come up with might help you think of something that's important you that you had missed. Soit' it's a lot of things you could do, and people would develop their own techniques and tenfor certain decisions.
