In his recent book he presents himself as an unironic Jared Diamond respecter which comes in no surprise at all. It's like it's a very self-serving fraud for the kind of analysis that he presents. And so to what Hans was saying, yeah one of the most irritating things when you try to read him or listen to him talk is the way that he frames the actors in the context of international politics. He uses countries as if they are actors themselves and rational actors.
