The Biggest Challenge of Self Recording

The biggest initial challenge of self recording is the overwhelm you feel when you first listen back and you hear all these things wrong with it. The key, start documenting every single thing you hear that could possibly be better. I use like these note cards for every excerpt. Try to try to document it like am, just on the left side of card. That's going to allow you to time your am, your grace notes and rubados to sound good on the other side of the room,. rather than write above your instrument. Ah, and then you play and record it. It seems like recording would be a straightforward thing, but i think that's kind of the trap that we often fall into
