What Aquinas Means When He Talks About an Ultimate End
An all-encompassing end is a goal that would fulfill all of the things that you're looking for. Aquinas' answer, which maybe is not a very helpful answer at this stage in our conversation about this, is to say it's happiness. That doesn't yet tell us what happiness is. But it is clarifying that actually this is in a way what our lives are supposed to aim at.
