The Mayflower Doctrine and the Mayflower Compact
The real precursor to the fairness doctrine, which again, more of a 60s story, but the precursor is comes along in the early 1940s. It's called the Mayflower Doctrine and the Mayflower Compact. And what mayflower, the precursors of this rule, it's an FCC rule, there had been. So that's great. That takes us through the sort of Wild West of the 20s and into the, as you explained, manufactured need for regulation in the 30s and 40s.
