Is There a Meaning in Suffering?

All mass life forms on earth over the past several billion years should have gone through all this suffering just so that humans can actually have, some percentage of humans can have pretty decent lives. I don't know how you can look back and say, this was or wasn't wor it it its just how things happened. If i got to become god on earth and do some secret stuff, but more or less leave the world alone? That'd be better than what we have now.
