The elimination of the evidence does not eliminate the beliefs that were inferred from it. People have raised their opinions of how empathetic they are, maintained their new belief. If a larger and diverse body of published evidence supports a conclusion, you must believe in it. You cannot only believe results that seem plausible to you.
