Baudelaire offers an exploration of things that Catholics believe don't really want to look at much. He's probably the kind of author that, in an earlier age of Catholicism, you would have had to have your confessor to read. I wouldn't say that Baudelaire qualifies as a devotional poet. But he is an extraordinarily moving and illuminating poet.
