God's Promise to Abraham and His Relatives
In the previous versions of the covenant God has asked nothing of Abraham in return for some prime Middle Eastern property. Only now does he ask Abraham to pay a price. Every male among you shall be circumcised at the age of eight days, says Elohim. And if any male who is uncircumcised fails to circumcise the flesh of his foreskin, that person shall be cut off from his kin. He has broken my covenant. End quote.
