Functional Versus Dynamic?

Some translations tend to solve interpretive difficulties by trying to have the passage have the same function for today's hearers as it did originally. I think of genesis six as an example. The sons of god cohabitate with the daughters of men. And some translations say sons of god, which would be the form that literal act,. literal versus the angels there making an interpretiv decision by saying angels. It's helpful, but you wouldn't notice that unless you compared translations. Some people out there who speak multiple languages, they've not actually had to make a written translation. That just has to mean that we can't be insisting on a perfect word for word translation, because it cannot exist
