The New Alchemy Institute

The new Alchemy Institute was founded by John Todd, Nancy Todd and Bill McLarnie in the 70s. The three were inspired by Earth Day demonstrations but also had a naive approach to design when it came to building their first bio-shelters. They created structures that incorporated solar architecture, agriculture, aquaculture into one system. And they realized that just from looking at whole systems, water plays an important role as well.
