The Downfall of the Portuguese Government

Portugal had ambitions in southern Africa. They wanted to connect their two colonies by taking over present day Zimbabwe and Zambia. But this clashed with British connecting the dots. This led to a diplomatic clash and some warnings from Britain. In 1890, the British basically gave Portugal an ultimatum. And it led to the downfall of the Portuguese government.
