Stoicism and Joy

The Stoics have a highly structured concept of emotion. They call them the Yupathai, or the healthy or positive emotions or passions. And one of them is Khara or Joy, and that plays a central place in Stoic psychology. Marcus Aurelius describes three main ways in which Stoics experience rational healthy joy. He says they delight in virtue, which kind of seems obvious if you know much about Stoic theory.
