CHAPTER

The Importance of Pattern-Seeking Stories

We're pattern-seeking storytelling animals. And essentially, all we're doing is spinning narratives to each other that often fit out preconceived world-viewer ideology. Reminds me of Edlemus' aphorism, which I think he writes in the beginning of his Macroeconomic Stores and Patterns. But as you say, getting to the actual truth of what is going on here is a supremely difficult, sometimes intractable task. And lives are at stake. So we're trying hard. We shouldn't give lip service to ideas like uncertainty. It takes a whole book or indeed a whole inserto to beat them into your head.
