In judaism the boundary of canon is a lot more porous. And so if i am studying my religion for religious reasons, then i would include all the texts e'll be talking about to day as authoritative. Now, not authoritative in the sense that they can trump the tora, there's an order of authoritybut till authoritative in thesense that they are part of the tradition and deserve a seat at the table. Although i think in this is maybe a difference between perhaps christianity and islam udaism.
