President Ballard says the story of Joseph Smith's martyrdom can be difficult for some to contemplate, but it is a story of spiritual edification. The two men were almost inseparable; they stood side-by-side and helped each other through tough times. Hiram was actually charged by his older brother who passed away early to watch over and take care of Joseph.
