The Importance of the Third Person in Historical Fiction
This is a pirate novel and a slavery novel, it is a novel about queer relations. I do sometimes have, usually in a prologue or an echolog, a bit of first person. But otherwise I prefer the freedom of the third person. If you are in the first person most of history, you cannot share. And I like an epic canvas.
