When i was an undergrad at the university of arizona, knew i was really interested in environmental questions as an anthropologist. And so i found a teaching programme that allowed me to teach in brazil. And where i was placed was in the city of manaus, which is the largest city in the bBrazilian amazon. When i arrived there, i was really taken aback, because i think all my images of the amazon growing up, from what i had seen in television and film, was of this overwhelming jungleor pristine forest.
