How Do Archaeologists Define Civilization?
There is still ongoing and very healthy, robust debates about what constitutes a civilization. Some would say that we should define it by size or scale. I would argue a functional kind of approach is more inclusive. It helps us to see the kinds of variations that exist. For me, a civilization is something that is highly complex.
