The History of Smallpox

The word vaccination comes from vaca, the latin word for cow. Jenner self published his findings and loudly preached the good news of what came to be known as vaccination. Jeste's experiment a success, but he did not widely share the results. Long after small pox vaccination became safe and effective in rich communities, the disease continued to kill. The last case of smallpox contracted in the wild occurred in 19 77.
