The Story of Sam Shepard and Marilyn

In 1943, Sam Shepard went home for the summer to take classes at Cleveland's Western Reserve University. It was also a chance for him to start dating Rudy Bales, a girl he knew from high school. He wrote to Marilyn every day and begged her to move out to California so that they could get married. The couple learned that Sam's dad and Marilyn's dad would soon both be in L.A. at the same time for business trips.
