Is There a Relationship Between Rose and the Durdens?

Brennan had a somewhat obsessive imagination and you can't necessarily know the personal reasons behind her obsession with this situation. The story about Rose's death was published 10 years before family walls. So really she was killed off 10 years before Brennan wrote this story. And then within each story, there's so much spiraling through time, you know, we're all over the place.
