Confession - What's the Goal of Confession?

When a man confesses sexual sin to his wife, what is the goal of that confession? He's been cut off from the lord, like you quoted that proverb. So he's not prospering spiritually until he confesses and forsakes his sin. The effect that happens when you're getting right with god, you have to confess. It's almost impossible to get right until you've confessedand gotten it out.
