Tony Blair carried the optimism of leaving behind those 18 dark horrible failed years of conservatism. We projected so many things onto him, and he was happy to have those things projected onto him. Looking back on this, it's amazing to be reminded of what a high-flown or dacious sort of leader and politician Tony Blair was.
