The Residuality Theory of Software

Residual theory is about moving away from the idea that we can static represent environments. Instead of trying to boil everything down to a set of processes and components, we instead work with the concept of residue. A residue then is just a snapshot of a particular part of the system that's affected by a particular kind of change. And those leftovers will be the thing that defines the future of the software system. This requires a huge shift in how we think about software architecture.
