Intermittent fasting is when you consume less than 25% of your baseline energy needs on fasting days and then alternate with a day of unrestricted food intake or feast days. Mark Madsen they define the metabolic switch as the bodies shifting preferentially from using glucose or sugar from glycogenolysis which is just the lysis or the breaking down of glucose to fatty acids and fatty acid derived ketones. When we practice intermittent fasting our bodies actually make this metabolic switch where we actually reduce caloric restriction by lowering body fat percentage but also induce mitochondrial biogenesis that means your mitochondria are going to be healthier more fit for us.
